2018 March for Life REVISED indulgence.jpg

January 22, 2018 commemorates the 45th anniversary of the tragic Roe vs Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court decision to legalize abortion in 1973. In commemoration of the anniversary, the faithful of the diocese are encouraged to attend the annual March for Life and rally at the Minnesota State Capitol on Monday, January 22 sponsored by Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life (MCCL),

The Prayer Service for Life will take place at the Cathedral of St. Paul from 10:30-11:30 a.m., followed by the MCCL March to the Capitol. The rally at the Capitol will begin at noon, with the talks beginning around 12:30 p.m.

As Catholics let’s join together to pray and protect the lives of unborn children and their mothers. We can make a difference.

Partial Indulgence Granted for Attendance at March for Life in St. Paul

Bishop LeVoir has granted a partial indulgence for all Catholics from the Diocese of New Ulm who attend the March for Life in St. Paul on January 22, 2018. In addition to attending the March for Life, the usual conditions apply:

  • Sacramental Confession and Holy Communion (as soon as possible if not on the actual day, January 22),
  • prayers for the intentions of the Holy Father,
  • and some additional act of penance as a reparation for sin committed against life.
  • The indulgence is also available to those who are aged, sick, or for any other reason unable to leave their homes, having fulfilled the same conditions, who unite themselves to the prayers that are offered that day for Respect for Life.
