"The Heresy of Low Expectations" by Eric Sammons

Eric Sammons - an evangelist and author - recently wrote an article for Catholic Answers titled "The Heresy of Low Expectations." Often in our various apostolates and ministries, we can become discouraged by lack of attendance or commitment. This can cause us to grow lax in our efforts and ultimately stagnate in our mission. As this new year begins, let's set the bar high and set our hopes high as well. Christ is born! Alleluia!

It is an excellent article and one that would provide for great discussion at our regional meetings (hint, hint). You can read it by clicking HERE.

Regional E&C Meetings

Our regional E&C meetings will be held in February. Please check your inbox and RSVP to attend. These meetings went so well this past Fall, so we look forward to meeting again and catching up!

Totus Tuus update

If you expressed interest in hosting Totus Tuus at your parish this summer, be sure to have those strategic conversations with the staff who will be involved: is this something we want to commit to or not? I will be following up with those who expressed interest in order to get a solid "yes" or "no" and to answer any questions you may have. As we move forward with this exciting new program, expect formal registration (including week assignments) at the end of February.

2018 March for Life and 9 Days for Life Novena

The March for Life at the state capitol will be held January 22. It starts at 10:30 AM with a prayer service and the march starts at noon. Contact Sr. Candace Fier in the Office of Family Life ( | 507-233-5328) for details on groups attending. This can be an excellent opportunity for youth to experience Catholic social teaching at work.

I would also encourage you to pray the 9 Days for Life Novena, which can be found HERE. The novena starts January 18 and ends January 26. More information has been sent in 1/4/18 UPDATE.

Summer planning

WARNING: This is a shameless plug.

As you begin to make your summer plans for youth ministry, consider tapping into the diocesan summer camps: Camp Greatness and Camp Beloved. Many of the youth who attend have thoroughly enjoyed each camp and they continue to see a positive response and growth.
