USCCB president calls for Sept. 9 to be a National Day of Prayer

In the wake of recent violence and racial tensions within a number of communities in the United States, Archbishop Joseph Kurtz, President of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has called for a National Day of Prayer on Friday, Sept. 9, the feast of St. Peter Claver. There will be a Divine Mercy Chaplet at 7:00 p.m. followed by Mass at 7:15 p.m. on Sept. 9 for this intention at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.

All parishes in the Diocese of New Ulm are invited to join in this nation wide prayer for peace. Area Faith Communities may host similar events, and all the faithful of the diocese are encouraged to enter into this day of prayer by engaging in special prayers or penances.  Further information can be found on the USCCB Web site.
