Judge advances settlement plan for diocese, clergy abuse survivors

DULUTH - Bankruptcy Judge Robert Kressel of the U. S. Bankruptcy Court for the District Court of Minnesota has approved the joint Disclosure Statement submitted by the diocese and the Official Committee for the abuse claimants at a Bankruptcy Court hearing in Minneapolis Aug. 22.

In approving the Disclosure Statement, Judge Kressel also scheduled the confirmation hearing on the joint Plan filed by the diocese and the Official Committee for the abuse claimants for Oct. 21 at 11 a.m. at the Federal Courthouse in Duluth.

“Approval of the Disclosure Statement was an important next step in the Chapter 11 process,” said Father James Bissonette, vicar general of the Diocese of Duluth.
