Reverend Keith R. Salisbury, formerly a member of the Church of St. Michael in Gaylord, MN, was ordained to the Holy Order of Priesthood for the Diocese of New Ulm on June 3, 2006, by Bishop John C. Nienstedt at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Fr. Salisbury is the third seminarian in two years to be ordained a priest for the New Ulm diocese. In 2005, Frs. Craig Timmerman and Mark Steffl were ordained to the priesthood.
Fr. Salisbury is the son of the late Jay and Marie Salisbury, and is the brother of Curt, Michael, Joe, and Lynn Salisbury and Karen Chouanard and Mary Ann Thedens. He attended College at the University of St. Thomas and St. John Vianney College Seminary, with a major in Catholic studies.
Following graduation in May of 2001, he participated in a chaplaincy program offered at the Duluth Medical Center, Duluth, MN. The following fall, Bishop Nienstedt assigned him to a parish internship year at the Church of St. Mary in Sleepy Eye. He also assisted at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth. In the fall of 2002, he began studies in theology at Blessed John XXIII National Seminary in Weston, MA. He was ordained to the Order of Diaconate on June 29, 2005.
Following his priestly ordination, Father Salisbury has been assigned to serve the Church of St. Anastasia in Hutchinson and the Church of St. Boniface in Stewart as parochial vicar.
Fr. Salisbury has been actively involved in the Knights of Columbus and the Regional Pastoral Council of the Diocese of New Ulm.
