Time to celebrate!

Year of the Eucharist Diocesan Celebration October 9

In June 2004, on the feast of Corpus Christi, Pope John Paul II announced that 2004-2005 would be designated as the Year of the Eucharist. The year began with the World Eucharistic Congress, October 10-17, 2004, in Guadalajara, Mexico. It will now come to a close with the ordinary assembly of the Synod of Bishops held in the Vatican October 2-29, 2005. The theme of the synod is “The Eucharist: Source and Summit of the Life and Mission of the Church.”

During this Year of the Eucharist, all Catholics have been called to honor God’s gift of the Eucharist, to receive it more faithfully, and to reflect more deeply on its meaning in their lives and in the life of the Church.

Diocesan Celebration

As a way of recognizing the close of the Year of the Eucharist, Bishop John C. Nienstedt has designated Sunday, October 9, as the Year of the Eucharist Celebration in the Diocese of New Ulm.

This family event, organized by the diocesan Council of Catholic Women in conjunction with the diocesan Office of Worship, will be held from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the Church of St. Catherine in Redwood Falls. This is a free event and all the faithful in the diocese are encouraged to attend.

The celebration theme is “One Body, One Spirit in Christ” - reminding us that the Eucharist ties every parish, Area Faith Community, and cluster together with the diocesan and universal church.
