Torgersen resigns after 9  years of leadership in diocese

Sr. Sue Torgersen, CSJ, has served in the Diocese of New Ulm since August of 1994. For the first 8 years she served in the capacity of Associate Director of Vocations and Director of Clergy Continuing Education. During this past year she has served as Director of Youth Ministry and Vocation Awareness.

Sr. Sue is a Sister of St. Joseph of LaGrange, Illinois. Before coming to the Diocese of New Ulm she worked for the Archdiocese of Chicago in the area of youth faith formation and served as the coordinator of the Chicago TEC program for 10 years. After serving as a parish youth minister in Niles, Illinois for 2 years, she was director of Youth Ministry for the Diocese of Joliet from 1989-1993. From there she moved to the Diocese of Cheyenne where she spent one year as a pastoral associate and in diocesan vocation ministry, before coming to the Diocese of New Ulm.

While serving in the position of Associate Director of Vocations she helped develop and implement such programs as Discover the Way Retreats, the Story of My Life, a vocation assessment and interview tool for high school youth. She also worked with Called By Name, a program for nominating potential candidates for priesthood and religious life, and Vocation Fairs which were conducted in Catholic high schools and religious education programs as a way to introduce young people to various churchvocations.

As Director of Clergy Continuing Education, Sr. Sue coordinated the Pastoral Leader Days twice a year for the priests and pastoral administrators of the diocese. This past year she had the opportunity to work with the various youth ministry needs of the diocese including the diocesan events of the Junior High Festival, the Senior High Youth Rally, and the National Catholic Youth Conference.

The Diocese of New Ulm is grateful for her many years of dedicated leadership.
