The students at St. Michael’s School, in Morgan, MN will have a surprise in store for them this fall. The school hallway walls have been stenciled with the prayers the students will learn during the school year.  Each class has a number of prayers they will be learning.  For example, students in kindergarten will be learning the Glory Be; first and second graders will learn the Our Father; the third and fourth graders will be learning the Apostle’s Creed; and the fifth and sixth graders the Memorare.

Also this year on the playground, there will be new equipment for our preschool and kindergarten students.

Every year at St. Michael's we focus on a new theme. This year is TURTLE – Slow and Steady to God.  These annual themes are meant to serve as a visual reminder of their faith to the students and staff at St. Michael's. Each Monday throughout the school year, students and staff will gather and listen and sing to a religious song based on the year's theme.  This not only exposes the students to songs as a way of prayer but provides the opportunity to discuss how the song fits this year’s theme and how they have lived out the theme the previous week.

Also each month we will be focusing on a different patron saint.  This month the students will learn about St. Vincent dePaul, patron of Charitable Services.  The saints are definitely an example of how to move steadily closer to God!

The students and staff will continue to infuse our Catholic faith into every class using religious concepts in their spelling sentences, to write math problems, to discuss concepts in science and social studies and to pray for guidance. For handwriting, the primary students will be using A Reason for Handwriting, based on scripture verses.

St. Michael's school will be launching a web site this month. Check it out!
