CHS concert band journeys to New York receives high praise for performance

The New Ulm Cathedral High School Concert Band, under the direction of Don Jirak, spent June 21-24, 2004, in New York City where they performed at the United Nations Headquarters Building. Band members and parent chaperones visited Ground Zero, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum, Central Park, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty. They also attended the Broadway Musical "Phantom of the Opera."

The students appeared on the CBS "Early Show" and had the opportunity to tour the CBS studios after the program. When the Cathedral High School Concert Band played for the music professor at Seton Hall University, East Orange, New Jersey, they received high praise for their performance.
