Parish Fiscal Management Training scheduled in Diocese for November
Effective parish ministry requires training and periodic updating. The focus of this years diocesan ministry training is on the ministries of financial management and administration. A team of experts from the diocesan offices and the business world will combine to provide training for pastoral leaders and full or part-time parish business managers, bookkeepers, and secretaries. Three regional trainings will be held for parish Finance Council members and trustees.
The Parish Fiscal Management Conference is a day-long event at the Church of St. Catherine in Redwood Falls. The Conference will be held on Thursday, October 23, beginning at 10:00 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m.
Sessions will be conducted on financial record keeping, internal fiscal controls, sacramental record keeping, and various human resource and personnel issues. A representative from Catholic Mutual Insurance will be on hand to address coverage and liability issues. There will be presentations on the Diocesan United Fund and the guidelines for Area Faith Community assessments.
The regional Finance Council and Trustee Training is scheduled for three locations on three different dates.

These regional trainings will address Finance Council issues, the use of proxies, and the roles of the trustees. The sessions will conclude with a presentation on the relationship of the Finance Council to the Parish Pastoral Council and how the implementation of the Area Faith Community model will impact the role of the Finance Council.
