Official Appointments of the Diocese of New Ulm

The Most Reverend John C. Nienstedt, Bishop of New Ulm, announces a position change and a new appointment to the diocesan staff.

Sr. Sue Torgersen, CSJ who has served as Associate Director of Vocations and Director of Continuing Education of Clergy will now serve as Director of Youth Ministry and Vocation Awareness. Sr. Sue has over sixteen years of experience as a parish youth minister and in diocesan youth ministry.

Prior to her appointment to the diocesan staff in 1994, Sr. Sue served the Diocese of Joliet and the Archdiocese of Chicago, both in Illinois. She holds a certificate and advanced certification in youth ministry.

Her new position should allow for improved integration of vocation awareness into the ministries with junior high and high school students. One of her primary goals will be to continue the various diocesan youth events, such as the junior high festival, high school rally, and organizing the delegation for the National Catholic Youth Convention.

Sr. Mary Danielle Johnson,RSM will serve as the Director of Continuing Education of Clergy and Tribunal Assistant. In the latter capacity, Sister will assist with conducting interviews and with interview transcription.

Sr. Mary Danielle has a Masters degree in Education and a second Masters in Library Science. She has experience working with university administration at Michigan State University, Ann Arbor and Catholic University, Washington, DC. Most recently, she has been working for the Archdiocese of Washington, DC. She has additional duties with her community in Jackson helping to take care of the community’s farm.
