Beginnings are both scary and exciting. Both these emotions fill me as I begin my term as New Ulm Diocesan Council of Catholic Women president. And why would I ever consider this commitment?
When Jim and I were first married a good friend of mine gave us a book entitled Someone to Love, Something to Do, and Something to Hope For. Council of Catholic Women certainly has become that title. Someone to Love - I am not embarrassed to say I love the Lord and feel blessed to know that he loves me. But, love is a verb.
Something to Do - Ever since my childhood when I was waving my hand to volunteer to wash the blackboards, I have been interested in doing for others. CCW has been a vehicle to keep that volunteer spirit alive, alive for God. Lots of groups offer service projects, but knowing that our projects are God-centered and justice oriented makes CCW my first choice for service. Many organizations encourage individual growth, but CCW promotes spiritual along with personal growth. I think youll agree that highlights of our gatherings and conventions are prayer times. Its so awesome to be one in prayer with over 300 women!
Something to Hope For - I feel that hope is already being realized by the wonderful women who have agreed to be part of the NUDCCW board. You are well represented by these women. My hope is that CCW continue to be an important part of the diocesan parish life and that more women will connect with us. I am anxious to grow with you. Please keep CCW in your prayers so we can be a stronger light to the nation.
But do more than pray! During the months of September and October, you have the opportunity to attend your regions Fall Gathering. Please see the schedule of Gatherings and pencil this date on your calendar. These gatherings are a great source of prayer, education , and enjoyment.
