Fr. Gorman dies at age 89

Reverend Paul J. Gorman, 89, died on Monday, August 20, 2001.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, August 23, 2001, at Divine Providence in Sleepy Eye, MN, with burial in St. Timothy Cemetery, Maple Lake.

Father Gorman was born December 10, 1911 and was ordained on June 1, 1940 for the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis, by Archbishop John Murray. He entered the Diocese of New Ulm on November 18, 1957.

He served as Associate Pastor at St. Helena in Minneapolis, and St. Joseph in Montevideo. Father Gorman served as Pastor at St. Francis in Benson. He was given permission to work outside the diocese with the Franciscan Fathers of Marytown, Kenosha, Wisconsin in 1978.

While residing with the Franciscans of Marytown, he served as editor of the magazine, Immaculata. He is the author of the book, Life with Joseph.

Father Gorman retired from active ministry on December 10, 1981.

He resided in Maple Lake and Winnebago in his retirement and most recently had been in residence at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.
