A Mass of honor/remembrance for those in military service

Green Valley, MN -  At the Sunday, September 4,  8:00 a.m. Mass, celebrated by Fr Paul Hadusek, parishioners of St. Clotilde in Green Valley honored and remembered those who serve or have served in the military.  They also extended support and encouragement to the families and friends.

Personal invitations were sent to parishioners of St. Clotilde and St. Mary's of Cottonwood known to have family members serving in the military.  Everyone who attended was given the opportunity to jot down a personal note of  appreciation, a prayerful thought, or some words of encouragement to a soldier stationed in Iraq. A collection of rugs was taken which will be sent to soldiers in Iraq to be used at their bedsides to help keep some of the sand out.

The American flag was part of the entrance procession and was displayed by our "God Bless Our Troops" banners. Special prayers asked for courage and strength for the soldiers, and peace of mind and faith for their families. Patriotic music was sung and TAPS was played while a moment of silence was observed remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Coffee, rolls and fellowship followed the Mass in the church hall.
