DCCW ranks family and life top issues

As November approaches so does "Election Day". Who are you going to vote for? Have you researched the candidates goals and objectives? Do they represent your beliefs? The Council of Catholic Womens Legislation Commission is in place to help you answer these questions.
For me "Life" is the most important criteria. NCCW has a Reverence Life Commission working to protect the life and dignity of all people. The Reverence Life Commission has worked hard for many years to speak for the unborn. We need to be strong and stay the course in our fight for life.
The Reverence Life Commission and the Legislation Commission can lend a hand. Cloe Klinkner of Sleepy Eye is our Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Legislation Commission Coordinator. She is committed to informing the women of the Diocese of New Ulm about important legislative issues. She can be heard saying, "In public discussion and decision-making, the voice of Jesus must be heard." We can depend on Cloe to let us know about bills that are before our elected officials. How is Cloe going to reach you? Does your parish CCW have a Legislation Commission Coordinator? Your CCW Legislation Commission Coordinator can help Cloe make the voice of Jesus be heard by passing on information. This is so important now during an election year. At the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Convention last April the assembly voted for and accepted a resolution called Vote 2000. Vote 2000 states: "Whereas, the year 2000 is an election year, and Whereas, NUDCCW members have the right to vote; Be It Resolved, the NUDCCW will encourage its members to vote according to Catholic teachings as proclaimed by Pope John Paul II." Do you know that if every Catholic had voted against abortion legislation, abortion would still be illegal? This election is important because the next president will be involved in selecting Supreme Court Justices whose decisions could effect Roe vs. Wade. Step up to the booth. Vote for life!
