Evangelization
missions in 2008 essential aspect of anniversary observance
Bishop John C. Nienstedt
announced that the Redemptorist Mission Team of
Chicago, Illinois has agreed to preach evangelization missions in all of the
Area Faith Communities and parishes in the Diocese of New Ulm.
This is the New Ulm diocese’s
initial step in the evangelization process that will serve as an essential
aspect of the 50th Anniversary observance.
According to the Redemptorists, these missions will be historic. The Diocese
of New Ulm is the first diocese in the country to conduct missions in all of
its parishes at the same time.
Between late January and
early April of 2008, the Mission Team will conduct 26 missions in English and 4
in Spanish.
The missions follow a
five-day, Sunday through Thursday evening format. The Mission Team will work
with a local Area or parish group to prepare for the mission. On the weekend of
the mission, they will preach at all of the Masses and extend a personal
invitation to participate in the mission.
The Mission Team will be
available during the week for daily Mass and visiting with other groups and the
homebound.
The schedule and additional
information about the missions will be printed in future issues of The Prairie
Catholic.
