Diocese
recognized for strong CCHD support
The 36th appeal and
collection to support the anti-poverty efforts of the Church through the
Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) will be held in parishes
throughout the Diocese of New Ulm the weekend of November 19-20.
Recently, the Diocese of New
Ulm was recognized by the national CCHD for its strong support of the Campaign
for increasing the annual CCHD parish appeal by 11%. Honored was Bishop John C. Nienstedt,
Christopher Loetscher, diocesan Social Concerns Director, and all the clergy
and faithful of the diocese for their commitment to the mission of the Catholic
Campaign for Human Development .
“For
35 years, CCHD has shouldered the challenge of helping people help themselves
climb out of poverty by promoting small-scale, grassroots efforts among low-income
people,” said Bishop Howard J. Hubbard, chairman of the CCHD committee of
