Diocese recognized for strong CCHD support

The 36th appeal and collection to support the anti-poverty efforts of the Church through the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) will be held in parishes throughout the Diocese of New Ulm the weekend of November 19-20.

Recently, the Diocese of New Ulm was recognized by the national CCHD for its strong support of the Campaign for increasing the annual CCHD parish appeal by 11%.  Honored was Bishop John C. Nienstedt, Christopher Loetscher, diocesan Social Concerns Director, and all the clergy and faithful of the diocese for their commitment to the mission of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development .

“For 35 years, CCHD has shouldered the challenge of helping people help themselves climb out of poverty by promoting small-scale, grassroots efforts among low-income people,” said Bishop Howard J. Hubbard, chairman of the CCHD committee of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. With the generous support of Catholics throughout the country, CCHD has become one of the largest and most effective private funders of self-help programs in the United States.
