Diocese of New Ulm - November 2002 five year, 3.3 million dollar building project is completed by Fr. Germain Rademacher On June 30, 2002, Bishop John C. Nienstedt dedicated the new Church of St. Catherine in Redwood Falls. It was the day of completing five years of study, planning and building the 3.3 million dollar project. The present facility includes a new worship space with a seating capacity of 600, a welcoming and ample gathering area to the new church, new office area, dining room and education classrooms. The old worship area has been revamped comfortably into a dining room complex with an up-to-date kitchen. The current facility enhances the structure dedicated in 1981, only a short while ago. Today the parish enjoys sufficient room and space for parish activities, several of which can happen simultaneously. Sentiments from Bishop Nienstedts homily continue to ring true for the people of St. Catherine. "Let us build the city of God. May our tears be turned into dancing! For the Lord, our light and love, has turned the night into day." He went on to say, "Today this local parish of St. Catherines, and indeed the whole local church of the New Ulm Diocese, rejoices at what we see before our eyes. You have worked long and hard to see the project of this new, beautiful church building come to completion. You have labored in faith and with love to bring this about and you can be rightly proud of the results you have accomplished." Yes, as pastor, I can relate to the pride the people share. Over the years there has been a dedication, loyalty and a steady faith on the part of the people of St. Catherines. The building com-mittee has worked so very hard for many years to bring about this current physical structure. We know as well that it is secondary to the real building of the Body of Christ in our midst. Fr. Germain Rademacher is Pastor at the Church of St. Catherines, Redwood Falls.
