New web site provides resources to help youth deal with tragic events

Saint Mary’s Press launched a Web site at 12:41 a.m. Wednesday, September 12, less than 24 hours following the tragic acts of terrorism the day before.

The Web site provides Christian parents, teachers, religious educators, youth ministers, and pastors with a multitude of resources to help young people deal with the tragic events.

Shortly after the events of the day unfolded, a group of employees of Saint Mary’s Press gathered in a small conference room to discuss how they might be able to offer comfort and support to youth. Because the press’s work reaches youth throughout the world, launching a Web site "was the most expedient way we could think to be of help," said Jerry Windley-Daoust, high school textbooks editor.

Within the next few days, requests had come from all over the United States to broadcast links to the site to a multitude of organizations and Christian churches.

The Web site address is www.smp.org/tragedy
