Ecumenical service for victims of terrorism held at Holy Family Church, Silver Lake

Silver Lake - Approximately 350 people attended an Ecumenical unity memorial service for victims of terrorism sponsored by the Silver Lake Knights of Columbus Mother Cabrini Council #1841 on September 28, 2001.

Members of the Fourth Degree entered the Holy Family Church, Silver Lake, followed by the American Legion Color Guard and legion members; Auxiliary Color Guard and Auxiliary members; the Silver Lake Police Department; Silver Lake ambulance personnel; and the Silver Lake Fire Department.

Prayer leaders were Father Robert Mraz, pastor at Holy Family, Dr. Tom Rakow of Grace Bible Church, and Reverend Deanna Reikow of Faith Presbyterian Church. Organist, Alice Nowak accompanied the congregational hymns.

Red, white, and blue ribbons (made by Legion Auxiliary members) were pinned on each person attending the memorial service.

The firefighter’s prayer, child’s prayer for firemen, policeman’s prayer, emergency services prayer, and military services prayers were read by a representative of each group.
