Christian Clowning at Holy Rosary in North Mankato

The 10th grade religious education class at the Church of the Holy Rosary in North Mankato participated in a 4-week special unit in Christian Clowning.

With the help of local Christian Clowns, students received a background of Christian Clowning, observed a skit, learned that we ‘die” to our gift of speech when the white face is worn, and become ‘Fools for Christ’ in serving his people. The unit culminated in a prayer service of the Stations of the Cross. By participating in this special unit during Lent, it brought students a little closer to understanding Jesus’ love and mercy.

This was not just a performance but a prayer-aid for their spiritual growth and for people in the pews. The 7, 8, 9, and 11 grades were invited along with the parish to the performance.

Cast included: Jesus, Evan Koch; Mary, Lauren Sweers; Weeping Women, Kendra Huettle, Kirsten Scheller; Veronica, Jina Schmoll; Simon, J.J. Cattrysse; Pilate, Amber Reichel; guards, Jason Brinks, Andrew Kolander, Meghan Tramp, Amanda Unhoeffer; Protestors, Josh Browne, Dani Cattrysse, Michael Diaz, Lindsey Laven, Chris Olson, Bret Romberg, Cory Sens, Ryan Unhoefer; Narrators, Kayla Kelling, Meaghan McGinn, Meredith Nelson, Peter Schoettler; Vocalists, Tom and Marcy Koch.
