Council of Catholic Women leadership sessions planned for next month

A crocodile cannot stick out its tongue. A snail can sleep for three years. A rubber band lasts longer if it is refrigerated. There is so much to learn!

The Council of Catholic Women (CCW) feels that way too, so in June we are planning on hosting two leadership training sessions. Many of you have already agreed to a position of leadership in your parish or region and now deserve direction and support in how best to fulfill that responsibility. On June 8 the training will be at St. Mary’s in Cottonwood and on June 10 the training will be at St. Anastasia’s in Hutchinson.

The Council of Catholic Women is structured with a spiritual moderator, officers and commission/committee chairwomen. There is a National board that meets in Virginia, a diocesan board that meets four times a year, six Region boards in the New Ulm diocese, and a local board in every parish in the diocese - each a reflection of the same organization.

The Council of Catholic Women assists Catholic women to act upon current issues in the church and society. This is accomplished through its commission/ committee structure. The CCW is made up of eight commission/committees; church, community, family, international, legislation, organization, reverence life, and scholarship. Our purpose is to promote spirituality, encourage social action, and to train women in leadership roles. All officers and commission chairwomen of the six region CCW boards and the numerous parish boards throughout the diocese are encouraged to attend one of the leadership training times. Each will begin with 6:00 p.m. Mass, followed by supper and whole group training. Presidents will be receiving information about registration. Chose the date that works best for you a take advantage of this opportunity to learn.

Ellen Nester’s term as Diocesan Council of Catholic Women President expired as of April 2004. The newly elected President is Joanne Pohland of Glencoe, MN.
