Winsted 6th graders working together to sponsor a child in need

by Sue Fynboh

The Holy Trinity, Winsted sixth grade has been busy raising money to support a child from the Christian Children’s Fund.

They have a total of four projects to help raise the $24 needed each month to sponsor their child.

Tula Behera, the child being sponsored, is 15 years old and from India. She lost her father and now her mother has to work several jobs to earn just 25 cents a day. She is the third child that Holy Trinity sixth graders have helped over the past 15 years.

The sixth grade students have been divided into four groups. They planned their projects, carried them out, and evaluated them when finished.

Projects include selling Krispy Kreme donuts to students and faculty and selling Halloween cookies to elementary students.

A third group ran a booth at the Council of Catholic Women Fall Festival in which they did face painting and sold books and cards. The fourth group is planning a possible caramel apple sale in the near future.
