National conference to feature St. Francis, Benson as a model case study

The National Conference on Environment and Art for Catholic Worship will be held June 29 - July 3, 2001 in Chicago, IL. The conference is for artists, architects, liturgical designers, building and renovations teams and commissions, parish liturgy and environment committees and all other interested persons. The conference, in collaboration with the Georgetown Center for Liturgy, will be hosted by the Office of Divine Worship, Archdiocese of Chicago. This is an excellent opportunity for people involved in all aspects of church building, renovation, restoration or historic preservation to gather, learn and share information. Parish liturgy and environment committees will benefit from the continuing education sessions offered at the conference, which covers all levels of past experience.

There will be presentations by nationally and locally known speakers, 3 unique tours of local churches, an artist and an architect portfolio showing and an exhibit hall with 120 artisans, trades people and companies participating. Also featured will be colloquia, round table discussions, and 3 extended hands-on workshops. Based on the past history it is anticipated the FORM/REFORM Conference will host 1200 participants from 145 different dioceses from 45 states and 7 foreign countries.

There are 40 Breakout Sessions focusing on areas such as: Forming Your Parish Team for a Building Project-A four part discussion of Architect, Liturgical Design Consultants, Fundraising and How to Establish Your Parish Team; and Five Case Histories of Building Projects.
