Diocese gearing up for 28th annual high school rally scheduled for
April 10

Hundreds of high school youth have registered to attend the 28th annual New Ulm Diocesan High School Youth Rally to be held April 10 at Lac qui Parle Valley High School (located at the junction of Hwy 40 and 119 between Appleton and Madison) from 1:00-8:00 p.m.

Chris Padgett, a gifted songwriter, speaker, and musician, will be the featured speaker this year. Padgett is well known as the founding member and lead singer of the popular Christian rock band Scarecrow and Tinmen, which he has led since they began.

Though the message remains the same, the way Padgett proclaims the Gospel is different than the way many people heard it in church. Padgett quotes St. Peter as calling his fellow apostles "dude."  And the traditional translations don't quote St. Peter as saying things were "cool."

The 33-year-old, a convert to Catholicism, encourages his young audiences to "Stand up and be crazy for Christ!” Based in Steubenville, OH, Padgett travels around the country with his wife, Linda and their six children, delivering his message around the country.

For further information about the Rally or to register, contact your parish youth minister or contact the diocesan Office of Youth Ministry, Sr. Margaret McHugh, director, (507) 359-2966; email: cblickem@dnu.org.
