Nearly thirty years ago, the vision and call of the great encyclical, Humane Vitae, captured the attention of a young obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Thomas Hilgers.  He saw in the words of Pope Paul VI a challenge to men and women of science, doctors, and health care professionals to not only help clarify the conditions that favor a moral ordering of human procreation but also bring about the God intended harmony between the divine laws for transmitting life and those for fostering true conjugal love.  He took up this challenge and today the fruits of his work, the Creighton Model FertilityCare System and NaProTechnology are touching the lives of couples, women, and families around the world.

The Creighton Model FertilityCare System is a scientifically developed and standardized system to enable women and couples to understand their fertility cycles. It can be used effectively to avoid or to achieve pregnancy. With appropriate medical support for abnormalities, it can also be used to help couples with infertility, and to assist in the assessment and management of women's health problems. The Creighton Model FertilityCare System helps Catholic couples live out the Church's teaching regarding the regulation of birth, while simultaneously enabling couples to deepen and enrich their sexuality and marital relationship. Couples and women find FertilityCare is reliable, scientifically sound, morally acceptable, and cost-effective.

NaProTechnology

NaProTechnology (Natural Procreative Technology, or NaPro) is a new medical and surgical women's health science that builds upon the information gained from the use of the Creighton Model FertilityCare System.  (CrMS) NaProTechnology devotes medical, surgical, and allied health resources to cooperating with the natural procreative mechanisms and functions of the human reproductive system. It is medically safe, scientifically sound, respects the dignity of women, and has many applications for fertility and women's health.  CrMS provides for the first time, that all women, whether married or single, can become fully engaged in monitoring, maintaining and evaluating their own gynecological, as well as reproductive health.
