Salisbury
to be ordained to the diaconate
On
June 29, 2005, at 7 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, New Ulm, Keith
Salisbury, a seminarian for the Diocese of New Ulm, will be ordained to the
order of the diaconate.
Salisbury, 53, is originally
from St. Michael's in Gaylord and is the son of the late Jay and Marie
Salisbury. He attended Gaylord High School, graduating in 1970. Prior to
answering his vocation call to the priesthood, Keith worked in private industry
for twenty-five years. He attended St. John Vianney
College Seminary and the University of
St. Thomas, graduating in July of 2001.
He was then assigned to a parish internship year at St. Mary's in Sleepy
Eye. Since the fall of 2002, Keith has
attended Blessed John XXIII in Weston, MA (near Boston). Following this summer’s assignment, yet to be
announced, he will return to Blessed John XXIII to complete his studies in
preparation for ordination to the priesthood.
On a personal level:
Keith is a 3rd degree member
since 1980 of the Knights of Columbus,
having been a former Financial Secretary and Treasurer. He is also a
4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus since 1995. Through-
out his life, Keith has had different
hobbies and interests. "I always enjoyed collecting baseball cards. Then I
moved onto Department 56 ceramic houses," Keith commented. Currently
his interest is with collecting toy farm
tractors.” I am partial to Allis Chalmers. That is what my father farmed with
while I was growing up on the
farm." When asked if there was
any other interests Keith commented,
"Movies....I love watching John Wayne movies."
Keith's ordination to the priesthood for the Diocese of New Ulm is tentatively set for the summer of 2006.
