Father Ernest H. Muellerleile dies at the age of 82

Reverend Ernest H. Muellerleile, 82, died Thursday, May 16, 2002 in Anchorage, Alaska.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at the Church of the Holy Cross in Anchorage, Alaska, and also on Saturday, May 25, 2002 at at St. Peter Historic Church, Mendota, MN, with burial at St. Peter Cemetery in Mendota.

Father Muellerleile was born June 23, 1919, in St. Paul, MN. He was ordained at the St. Paul Cathedral by Archbishop John Murray on October 7, 1944 for the Arch-diocese of St. Paul.

Following ordination he served at the Church of the Incarnation in Minneapolis; St. Mary in Bird Island; and St. Peter in Mendota. On November 18, 1957 he entered the Diocese of New Ulm and served at St. Catherine in Redwood Falls, and St. Mary in New Ulm.

Father Muellerleile asked to minister in Alaska in 1969 and incardinated in Anchorage in 1971. He had been serving at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Anchorage, where he was the first pastor.
