Camps around the corner!

Summer camps are just around the corner. These camps help to train youth to be good leaders. Although the process of training is fun it is intended to be a good challenge. It helps youth to learn what makes good Christian leaders.

Junior High Camp

This camp is for grades 7-9 and will be held June 6-7 at the Renville Youth Center. Camp director, Teresa Rousseau is a youth minister from the Archdiocese of Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Senior High Camp

This camp is for grades 9-12 and will be held June 13-14 at the Renville Youth Center. Camp director, Ken Schaan is a teacher and counselor at Hill Murray High School in St. Paul.

Both camp leaders have helped with past youth gatherings. The theme this year is Taking Leadership to Heart from the Gospel of Luke 9:23. We are reminded, "If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me." This message was quoted by Pope John Paul II in his message to youth for this past year.

Region VIII Leadership Camp

This camp will be held in Marshall at Southwest State University June 25-28. Teams of youth from Minnesota, North and South Dakota gather to learn skills to make a difference. Teams of 3-5 youth from a parish and their adult leader make up the working groups. Although this camp is near capacity, the junior high and senior high camps can still register people for this summer’s training.

Interested youth should contact their local Youth Minister or Director of Religious Education or call Cindy Blickem, Diocesan Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, (507) 359-2966.
