RENEW it yourself! Cable TV & faith sharing

RENEW 2000 offers parishes a unique opportunity to respond to the call of Pope John Paul II celebrating the new millennium with renewed faith. Small Christian faith sharing groups are meeting weekly in homes to reflect on the seasonal themes of the RENEW program. Parish participants are using a seasonal RENEW 2000 Faith Sharing Booklet (available from RENEW 2000 parish core leaders) to guide them through the various topics for reflection and discussion.

Many parishes are participating in the RENEW 2000 CAN (Cable Access Network) communications project developed to help support parishes and individuals in their renewal efforts during the celebration of the Great Jubilee and the new millennium. As a supplement to the RENEW 2000 Faith Sharing Booklet, individuals, families, parish organizations, and faith sharing groups can use a weekly RENEW 2000 CAN Program Guide to incorporate the use of cable public access television into their adult education/formation curriculum all year long!

The RENEW 2000 CAN project promotes, supports, and makes accessible the themes of RENEW 2000 in an additional supportive format, so that more people in the diocese of New Ulm can participate in RENEW 2000 even if they are not in a small faith sharing group. The selected videos and reflections can be used in a variety of ways. The videos may be viewed by participants of small faith sharing groups to reflect on their daily experiences. The reflection guide may be used in homes for individuals and families who are interested in spiritual renewal in preparation for the millennium. These programs and guides can be used at parish meetings or in whatever creative ways that serve your community.

If you are interested in participating in the RENEW 2000 CAN project contact the diocesan Media Resource Center, (507) 233-5330. We will provide your local station with the videos, work with you to develop a schedule, and provide guides for users. The guide will also be published in the Prairie Catholic and can be found on the New Ulm diocesan web site www.dnu.org. The cable scheduling and guides are available for free to parishes and individuals interested in the project.
