Week of Prayer for Christian Unity -

ecumenical celebration of the Word to be held January 15 at St. Anastasia, Hutchinson

Hutchinson, MN - "Where two or three are gathered in my name…" (Matthew 18:20) is the theme for the 2006 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (January 18-25).

Begun in 1908, these days have been set aside each year so that Christians the world over may share the prayer of Jesus: "that all may be one…that the world may believe" (John 17:21).

The Diocese of New Ulm will be hosting an ecumenical celebration of the Word on January 15, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. at the Church of St. Anastasia in Hutchinson, MN.

Bishop John C. Nienstedt will deliver the message. Music will be provided by musicians and choir members from various Hutchinson area churches.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is celebrated each year in cities and towns across the country and around the world. The theme and text for each year's observance are chosen and prepared by representatives of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity and representatives of the World Council of Churches.  All the faithful of the diocese are encouraged to attend.
