Roles and goals of DCCW
by Lila Schmidt
Each Commission/Committee Coordinator and Officer of New Ulm Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (DCCW) has a goal to carry out during the year. These goals are set at CCW Leadership Training held in July. The goals are then passed on to the membership at each annual Fall Gathering.
These are the roles and responsibilities of CCW leadership. President: To attend or have a replacement attend all meetings, gatherings and conventions of CCW. Secretary: To take accurate concise minutes. Treasurer: To keep an accurate calendar as to procedures and spendables on a monthly basis for the fiscal year. Historian: To keep records to share with future generations in preserving our past. Church Commission: Organize and sponsor a holy hour and adoration for vocations. Community Concerns Commission: To have one program at our parish CCW meeting at which a person representing one of the existing community services is the featured speaker. Family Concerns Commission: To invigorate our commitment to the life ethic resolution adopted by the NUDCCW. International Concerns Commission: To continue with special pet project of earning funds to build the new library in San Lucas Toliman, Guatemala. Legislation Commission: Fill Region and Parish Commission posts. Organization Commission: Opening Wide the Doors to Christ through CCW by publicity and updating job descriptions. Reverence Life: To continue to promote Project Rachael throughout the diocese. Scholarship: To encourage each parish to have a scholarship coordinator and to reinforce last years goal of encouraging at least one application and donation from each parish.
Goals can be challenges that bring about great satisfaction when achieved. Council of Catholic Women can add this element of satisfaction to our April convention by achieving the goals we set for ourselves as New Ulm Diocesan Council of Catholic Women.
