Fr. Cepress dies at age 83

Reverend Adalbert Cepress, 83, died Saturday, December 9, 2000.

Mass of Christian Burial was held December 14, at the Church of St. Adalbert, St. Paul, MN.

Father Cepress was born on April 15, 1917, in St. Paul, MN, to Frank and Theresa (Tetzlaff) Cepress. He was ordained at the St. Paul Cathedral on January 29, 1944 for the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis. He entered the Diocese of New Ulm on November 18, 1957.

He served as Associate Pastor at St. Olaf in Minneapolis; St. Mary in Bird Island; Immaculate Conception in Columbia Heights; Holy Cross in Minneapolis; St. John in St. Paul; St. Bridget in Minneapolis; St. Stanislaus in St. Paul; and St. Mary in Cottonwood. Father Cepress served as Pastor at the Church of the Nativity in Cleveland; St. Cyril & Methodius in Taunton; St. John in Ortonville; St. Paul in Nicollet and St. Michael in Belgrade; St. John in Darwin, St. Gregory the Great in Lafayette; and St. Adalbert in Silver Lake. He retired from active ministry on July 7, 1981 and had been living in Woodbury, MN.

Father Cepress celebrated his 50th anniversary of ordination to the priesthood in January 1994.
