World Marriage Day to be observed February 11

World Marriage Day, held each year on the second Sunday in February, (this year February 11), honors the lifelong commitment of husband and wife.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops have published a series of short presentations showing how Church belief and teaching about marriage are strengthened and confirmed by the findings of social science. The presentations address eight topics - one per month. The series began in October 2006 and will run through May 2007. To view the list of topics and to read the first presentation which talks about cohabitation, visit the bishops’ National Pastoral Initiative on Marriage Web site, www.usccb.org/
