Discovering the treasure of Council of Catholic Women

by Joanne Pohland

It is my hope that each of you finds the Council of Catholic Women to be a great opportunity to serve the Lord. It is also my desire that the Council of Catholic Women in the Diocese of New Ulm offers women a treasure trove of opportunities to grow in our faith.

I believe you can find some great opportunities this spring. During the month of March and into April, each of the six regions in the New Ulm diocese will host a Spring Gathering.  These evenings include the opportunity to attend Mass as a group of women, share a meal and fellowship, and listen to a speaker. You will not want to miss this opportunity to network with the women of your region. However, if you find that another region’s date is better for you, I know that any of the Region Presidents would love to see you there!  I know that no matter which gathering you choose to attend, you will be glad you did!

On April 22, the annual New Ulm Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Convention will be held at the Church of St. Catherine in Redwood Falls. The women there are working hard to prepare an outstanding day of education, fellowship, and spirituality.

This year’s theme for the day is “Go into the World and Proclaim the Gospel” which is taken from the sixteenth chapter of the Gospel of Mark in verse 15. The day’s keynote speaker will be Chris Codden. The topic of her talk will be “Guiding Our Children Through the Media Maze with the Wisdom of Pope John Paul II.”  Chris is the director of the Office of Marriage & Family for the Diocese of St. Cloud. The day will also include a health fair.

Watch for more information to come in the weeks ahead.
