Diocese
to host RCIA conference in June
The Diocese of New Ulm will
be hosting a Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) Vision of Initiation Ministry
Conference to be held June 22-24 at the Church of St. Catherine in Redwood Falls. This conference will equip parish teams and pastoral
leaders to carry out the tasks of Christian initiation.
The North American Forum on
the Catechumenate is an International Network of
Pastoral Ministers, Liturgists, Catechists, and Theologians. Since 1981 the
Forum has united and supported pastoral ministers in the U.S., Canada, and beyond.
The Forum is dedicated to making a fully implemented Rite of Christian
Initiation of Adults a reality for all. They are committed to evangelization
and conversion through catechesis, liturgy, discipleship, and mission. They
believe in celebrating all cultural gifts.
Fr. Tim Piasecki,
pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul in the Rockford (Illinois)
diocese, and Sr. Miriam Malone, SNJM, a consultant for liturgical and
catechetical formation in various parishes and dioceses will be the
presenters. Fr. Piaseck
served in Montero, Peru for several years and is an instructor in liturgy for ministry
formation and a presenter on topics of liturgy and Christian Initiation in
Spanish and English. Sr. Malone has served as director of Christian Initiation
for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles for five years, and has ministered in the
Diocese of Juneau, Alaska for over two years as itinerant mission sister and
liturgical consultant.
