Diocese to host RCIA conference in June

The Diocese of New Ulm will be hosting a Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) Vision of Initiation Ministry Conference to be held June 22-24 at the Church of St. Catherine in Redwood Falls. This conference will equip parish teams and pastoral leaders to carry out the tasks of Christian initiation.

The North American Forum on the Catechumenate is an International Network of Pastoral Ministers, Liturgists, Catechists, and Theologians. Since 1981 the Forum has united and supported pastoral ministers in the U.S., Canada, and beyond.  The Forum is dedicated to making a fully implemented Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults a reality for all. They are committed to evangelization and conversion through catechesis, liturgy, discipleship, and mission. They believe in celebrating all cultural gifts.

Fr. Tim Piasecki, pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul in the Rockford (Illinois) diocese, and Sr. Miriam Malone, SNJM, a consultant for liturgical and catechetical formation in various parishes and dioceses will be the presenters.  Fr. Piaseck served in Montero, Peru for several years and is an instructor in liturgy for ministry formation and a presenter on topics of liturgy and Christian Initiation in Spanish and English. Sr. Malone has served as director of Christian Initiation for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles for five years, and has ministered in the Diocese of Juneau, Alaska for over two years as itinerant mission sister and liturgical consultant.
