March workshops to focus on the ministry of evangelization and catechesis

by JoAnn Borchert

Evangelization and catechesis is the role of all in the church. On March 2 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at St. Mary in Willmar a workshop will be presented by Maureen

Shaughnessy, SC and Fr. Robert Rivers, CSP entitled Cultivating the Word. This workshop is for catechists, parish/area faith community and parish education committees, and those interested in catechesis and evangelization.

Sr. Shaughnessy is the former past Assistant Secretary of Catechesis for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). Fr. Rivers is the Director of Parish Missions for the Paulist National Catholic Evangelization Association in Washington, DC.

These two presenters will also deliver an expanded version of this workshop for all pastoral leaders of the diocese at Pastoral Leaders Days to be held March 1 and 2.

On March 3, they will present at Our Lady of the Lakes in Spicer from 10:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Parish staffs, DRE’s, youth ministers, liturgists, and people interested in adult faith formation are invited to attend. The evening workshop on March 2 costs $3 and the day presentation on March 3 costs $10.

These are important days for our diocese. Your participation in one of these events would be important as we journey in faith development. To register call Cindy Blickem at the diocesan office (507) 359-2966; (cblickem@dnu.org).
