Diocesan sponsored events still accepting reservations

The following diocesan sponsored renewal day, retreats and lecture will take place in the New Ulm diocese this month and into March. Reservations are still being accepted for all of the events.

Saturday, February 28

Diocesan Renewal Day featuring Ralph Martin who is well known in Charismatic circles, will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Peter, MN. The cost is $10 and pre-registration is necessary. For further information contact Terri Guilmette, (507) 931-3662.

Saturday, February 28

Rowing with the Waves of Grief - a day of reflection focusing on the significant losses which have impacted our lives and ways to deal with the loss and grief issues in a practical and spiritual way. Presenter: Sr. Joyce Iten, OSB, certified chaplain and a parish minister with extensive background as a grief facilitator and presenter.

Saturday, March 6

Scriptural Reflections for Lent - a look at the scriptural readings for the final weeks of Lent and insight from Biblical scholarship with reflection on the impact of the message for each participant’s life. Presenter, Sr. Justin Wirth, SSND, former Director of the diocesan Office of Worship and Spiritual Life and Pastoral Administrator in Milroy, MN.

Saturday, March 13

Exploring Faith Through Film - a day to explore movies/videos as a way of teaching us about faith.The symbolism and imagery of film will be examined and numerous clips from classic films will be studied and discussed. Presenters will be diocesan staff Sr. Mary Charles Mayer, R.S.M. who received her S.T.L. in Social Communication from the Gregorian University, Rome and Mark Kemmeter, D.Min., who is a former lecturer in Pastoral Studies at Sacred Heart School of Theology, Hales Corners, WI.

All Retreats are from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the St. Alphonsus Retreat House, located at the Diocesan Pastoral Center in New Ulm. Lunch is included and participants have the option of spending an overnight at the Retreat House on a Friday or Saturday evening. Thursday, March 18

Second Annual Bishop Raymond A. Lucker Lecture featuring Sr. Donna Markham, O.P. speaking on "Leading in Hope". The event will be held at the Performing Arts Center, Redwood Area Schools, 100 George Ramseth, Redwood Falls, MN at 7:30 p.m. There is limited seating and tickets are required. Ticket cost is $5. Following the lecture, the Most Reverend John C. Nienstedt will present the annual Diocesan Distinguished Service Awards with a reception to follow.
