DCCW - educational opportunities await you!

by Ellen Nester, DCCW President

One of the benefits of belonging to the New Ulm Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (NUDCCW) is the educational opportunity that awaits you. Because we are an active organization there are necessary business items that must be addressed at monthly meetings, but we hope that is only part of each meeting. Business often touches on the "service" necessary within our parishes, i.e. who will plan the mother-daughter tea, who will spearhead the bake sale to raise money for Birthright.

Our mission statement claims to educate women in "spirituality, leadership and service." Spirituality must enter...we are a group of Catholic women so monthly meetings offer prime time

for group prayer.

The NUDCCW also encourages leadership...we can’t take action without information so our monthly meetings provide time to learn. Programs throughout the diocese are varied...second hand smoke, breast self-exam, available help for seniors, Catholic Relief Services, Women of the Bible, Aids ministry, Russian orphanages, mentoring, Guatemala. The more we can expand our knowledge, the more we can take leadership in correcting unjustness, promoting good health and growing in our faith.

February is often referred to as the month of love. Love yourself by treating yourself to a CCW meeting...it will lead you to pray to serve and to learn!
