NUDCCW scholarships offer variety of opportunities for leadership enrichment

by Mary Arnoldi

The aim of the New Ulm Diocesan Council of Catholic Women Scholarship program is to promote, empower, and educate CCW members in spirituality, leadership, and service; to promote and stimulate interest in the learning apostolate, and to further the useful knowledge of additional training to be of further service to others.

Scholarships of up to $200 each are available to those persons providing leadership in CCW activities, teaching in parish Catholic schools or religious education programs, and those ministering within their parish in music, administration, youth and youth ministry, and in a wide range of social concerns activities.

Each person applying for a CCW scholarship must be active in a parish ministry in the parish that the applicant attends or serves, and each applicant is asked to describe their parish ministry in detail on the scholarship applicant form. Scholarship application forms are available in every parish and are to be distributed only at your local CCW meeting. All application forms must be signed by the applicant, the parish CCW scholarship coordinator or the parish CCW president, as well as the parish pastor or pastoral administrator. All applications should be mailed to Mary Arnoldi, PO Box 202, Lamberton, MN 56152 and must be postmarked by March 15, 2002. Applications postmarked after that date will not be accepted. Any scholarship questions can be directed to Mary at (507) 752-7657 or your parish CCW scholarship coordinator.

Scholarship applicants may be reimbursed for tuition or registration fee for an educational workshop that they attended during the previous year as well as one that they will attend during the upcoming year.

The financial support for the CCW scholarships continues to come through donations from fundraisers in individual parishes throughout the diocese. These donations need to be turned in by March 15.

The goal of the scholarship program this year is that each parish invite a scholarship recipient from their parish or local area to speak at one of their local CCW meetings telling how their scholarship was used and how it benefited their parish ministry.

Mary Arnoldi is the Council of Catholic Women Diocesan Scholarship Coordinator.
