Bishop Raymond Lucker Lecture Series established - Morneau first presenter

by Mark Kemmeter

Prior to his death, Bishop Raymond Lucker established a fund for a lecture that would draw upon prominent national speakers addressing topics of interest to parishioners throughout the diocese. The first Bishop Lucker Lecture will take place on the evening of Thursday, March 20, 2003, at the Redwood Falls High School Theater. In addition to the lecture, the evening will include the presentation of the Diocesan Distinguished Service Awards and a reception.

Because of the influence of the Second Vatican Council on Bishop Lucker’s life and ministry, the first lecture will focus on Vatican II spirituality for the ordinary Catholic. The diocese is very pleased that the Most Reverend Robert F. Morneau, the Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Green Bay, has accepted an invitation to inaugurate the series.

Bishop Morneau was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Green Bay in 1966. He taught at Silver Lake College, Manitowoc, WI, until his ordination as an auxiliary bishop for Green Bay, in 1979.

Bishop Morneau is a popular speaker and has lectured extensively throughout the United States. He is a retreat leader and an avid reader with an emphasis on poetry. He is the author of numerous books on poetry, meditation, and has even written childrens books. He has previously offered workshops for pastoral leaders in the diocese.

Mark Kemmeter is the Coordinator of Staff for the Diocese of New Ulm.
