Find a reason to hope

The Scriptures speak to us of light. The first reading in the Mass of the Epiphany of the Lord, Isaiah 60 1:3 says, Rise up in splendor, Jerusalem! Your light has come, the glory of the Lord shines upon you. See, darkness covers the earth, and thick clouds cover the peoples, but upon you the Lord shines, and over you appears his glory.
Light is such a hopeful image. Think of the times in your life when you experienced darkness and later God’s light. Perhaps it was in time of grieving, or in questions answered, decisions made, or problems solved. Who was the person(s) that was light to you, that gave you hope? Each one of us can be God’s light to each other and to the world.
Let God’s light shine in you as we begin the new millennium. Light radiates hope and hope is the anchor to the fulfillment of the Promise.
