CCW and spiritual renewal

by Shirley Nowak

As we begin the great Jubilee Year - let it be a year of holiness for each of us. Let us each open wide "our door" to Christ.

How do we energize a positive attitude toward spiritual renewal in all aspects of Council of Catholic Women and our lives?

Today’s Christian leader needs to anchor their work in prayer. Our spiritual focus is what distinguishes CCW from just any women’s group.

Work needs to be united with prayer. Work is not limited to paid employment but includes all activity, which builds the kingdom, family, community, etc. We need to better the world through our work and also try to become a better person.

Leadership is not something one does to someone else but rather something one does with them. When we have our own vision for the direction of the group we sometimes forget to listen to the shared wisdom of others in the group. Do we use a prayerful approach to develop a vision for our group? We often think we have to do all the work ourselves and forget the guidance and support the Holy Spirit can provide. Do we include prayerful preparation in decision making on important issues?

Through CCW’s support, empowerment, and education, we can draw out our unique gifts and also provide each person the confidence and skill to develop these gifts. Put your gifts at the service of others.

Celebrate this "year of favor" from the Lord!
