Vocation Fairs invite youth to consider their calling

Three Vocation Fairs have been scheduled for the 2006-07 school year in the Diocese of New Ulm:  December 6, 2006 at Holy Family School in Silver Lake, January 10, 2007 at St. Michael’s School in Morgan and February 7, 2007 at St. John’s Church in Ortonville.

"We plan to follow the new format begun last year," stated Sr. Margaret McHugh, DSMP, Associate Vocation Director for the diocese.

"Last year, we began each Fair with all of the students assembled and a group prayer. From there, we split into two or three smaller groups to hear two different vocation stories.  Students were able to discuss what they heard from the speakers and the Fair ended with a closing prayer."

She explained that a Vocation Fair gives young people an opportunity to visit with a priest, brother, deacon, sister or missionary whom they might not normally have the occasion to meet.  "We want our young people to know that God loves each of them in a special way and that every one of them has a special purpose and mission in his plan of love.

Attending a Vocation Fair is a way to listen to how God has worked in other people’s lives and an invitation to consider how God might be calling you to follow him."
