Retired educator recognized for ‘making a difference’

Sister Gladys Meindl, OSF, has been selected for inclusion in the 10th edition (2005-2006) of Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.

The nomination was made by a successful former student who recommended Sister Gladys because of the impact she made on this person’s life. Only high school and college students who have been cited for academic excellence themselves are invited to nominate one teacher from their entire academic experience. As indisputable testimony to the value of outstanding teachers, Who’s Who honors a select 5% of the nation’s teachers.

Sister Gladys was involved in education for 53 years before retiring in 2003. In the Diocese of New Ulm, she has taught in schools in Glencoe, Tracy, Springfield and Morgan. She also taught in Winona, Rochester, Portsmouth, OH, and Chicago, IL. Sister Gladys taught all but 1st grade in her teaching experience.

Since retirement from education, she helps as needed at St. Michael Church, Morgan; is a hospice volunteer with the Redwood Area Hospital; and assists Mary Larsen with the We Care Project, based out of a 4-stall garage in Morgan, MN, which provides nearly 20,000 pounds of food to more than 150 families each month.
