CCW - advocating for all issues that affect life

Did you know that approximately 3,500 abortions are performed in the United States every day? Do you wonder why? What are the real reasons women choose to abort these precious gifts from God? Some women say that babies do not fit into their lives. Some women say they are not financially ready to support children. Other women say that since advanced technology can detect medical conditions during pregnancies, some of them decide they cannot handle the challenges of special needs children.

This past March, our daughter gave birth to our first grandchild: a beautiful baby girl. Our daughter also had her 19th birthday in March. My husband and I are like any other parents. When we learned she was pregnant, we had all kinds of concerns and worries. But we also knew we had to be there for our daughter and help her in any way possible. Our lives have changed dramatically, and our empty nest dreams have been put on hold.

The Council of Catholic Women (CCW) is a group of Catholic women who live their Catholic faith. Women have the special role of bringing lives into the world and nurturing those lives. Consequently, we have the special responsibility of protecting the unborn since they cannot defend themselves.

Because all life is sacred - it comes from God, belongs to God, and returns to God - Council of Catholic Women advocates for all the issues that affect life, placing the greatest efforts and emphases on abortion. That’s our Christian responsibility.

Please join the Council of Catholic Women in this prayer that begins with words from Psalm 139:

"I praise you, Lord, because I am fearfully and wonderfully made."

Seek out, Lord, those women who are considering ending their children's lives. Lead them out

of their confusion. Assist them in their times of doubt. Overpower the evil influences

that beckon to them.

May the beating human hearts deep within their wombs reach their mothers’ awareness and persuade them to accept the challenges and gifts of giving life to their children. Blessed are You, O Lord, the One Who creates life, sustains life, and redeems life.

Amen
