Holy Trinity Halloween bash huge success!

Winsted, MN - On October 29, Holy Trinity School and Parish in Winsted, MN sponsored a Halloween bash for its students, parishioners, and guests in grades 5-12. The evening began with a scavenger hunt through the town of Winsted to collect items for the food shelf. "We had 75 kids hunt through town," said Elaine Kahle, campus minister and organizer of the event for Holy Trinity. "The kids were a little unsure about the scavenger hunt part of the evening to begin with, but many of them were willing to give it a try. The response we received from the community was overwhelming as we collected nearly 2000 pounds, literally a ton of food. Several members of the community had bags of food packaged and waiting for the kids when they got there. The kids found out they could have a good time together and provide a very special service for others at the same time."

The students returned to school after the scavenger hunt, and each team counted the number of items they collected as well as weighed all the food. Marietta Neumann, who works at the McLeod County Food Shelf was on hand to accept all the food donations that was gathered.

Following the scavenger hunt, students had the opportunity to participate in a horseshoe tournament, play cards at the Texas Hold ‘Em table, and try their hand at Sumu Wrestling, Dance Revolution or sticking to the Velcro Wall.

The winning team for the evening include: Nick Fiecke, Amber Caouette, Natalie Caouette (chaperone), Samantha Schommer, Tara Cochran, Tony Schommer. Their team collected 239 items, weighing in at 236 pounds. They received free pizza and pop for their efforts.
