Extraordinary minister and sacristan formation evenings offered

Extraordinary minister and sacristan formation evenings will take place this year as part of the observance of the Year of the Eucharist.

Fr. Michael Kwatera, O.S.B., Ph.D., a monk of St. John’s Abbey, Collegeville, MN, will give a presentation on Eucharistic theology.  Fr. Kwatera has been a teacher of liturgy on the undergraduate and graduate levels and a practitioner of liturgy in parishes and religious communities.  He has authored numerous articles and several books, including the recently revised “The Ministry of Communion” booklet published by the Liturgical Press.  Presently, Fr. Michael Kwatera is the Director of Oblates for Saint Johns Abbey.

There will be three separate opportunities for extraordinary ministers and sacristans to come together for this event: Tuesday, Feb. 15 at St. John’s Church in Appleton; Monday Feb. 28 at St. Peter’s Church in St. Peter; and Monday March 7 at St. Mary’s Church in Bird Island.  Each formational gathering will begin at 7:30 p.m. and end at 8:45 p.m. Brochures and registration forms will be sent to parish leaders in January.
