Holy Trinity students and faculty show appreciation to the community

Winsted - Holy Trinity students, teachers, and staff had the opportunity to show their appreciation to the Winsted community October 15, for all of the support the area residents and businesses have given to their school.

Principal Todd Stejskal, teachers, and students worked together to plan what each of the individual classes would contribute for their part in Community Service Day.

During the special day, students in kindergarten and first grade sang songs for the residents at Linden wood Apartments as their special contribution.

The second graders dressed in Halloween costumes and sang for residents of St. Mary’s Care Center; third graders cleaned up Mill Reserve Park; and the fourth graders spent the morning at St. Mary’s Care Center, working with the residents to create seasonal decorations for the hallways at the care center.

The fifth graders raked and bagged leaves at a senior citizen’s home and sixth graders cleaned up Southview Park and the Luce Line Trail.

High school students took care of the Denis M. Campbell baseball field, football field, tennis court, Holy Trinity cemetery, and made it out to Highway 7 to clean up the road site. Some high school classes did lawn, garden, and tree trimming for senior citizens.

The weather cooperated with the tasks at hand, and all jobs were completed. Some of the students are already looking to the future and talking about spring clean up projects they would like to do.
