New Ulm Cathedral student honored by National Merit Scholarship Program

Heidi Eckstein, a senior at Cathedral High School in New Ulm, has been named a National Merit Semifinalist by the National Merit Scholarship Program. She is the daughter of Joe and Mary Eckstein of New Ulm, and a member of St. Mary’s Parish in New Ulm.

Less than 1% of each state's high school seniors qualify as semifinalists. Only 350 students from Minnesota representing only 25% of the high schools in the state have been named National Merit Semifinalists. There are 16,000 semifinalists nationwide. Results like this are a direct result of the outstanding effort put forth by our students and the academic excellence that is striven for at the New Ulm Area Catholic Schools.

Fifteen Cathedral High School seniors in the past fourteen years have been honored by the National Merit Scholarship Program.
